Oops. It’s raining… and here I am, three blocks from my umbrella, which is snuggled securely in the glove compartment of my car.
I can feel the stress brewing in my stomach as I try to decide whether to call and say I’ll be late to wait out the sky, ask the coffee shop owner if they would lend me an umbrella or balance a newspaper on my head and show up to my next meeting looking a bit bedraggled. I can hear my little mind begin to come up with excuses, annoyance at the weather gods and how I can turn this into a sympathy play with the folks I’ll be meeting with.
And then I just stop. Rain is inevitable. How I react is not.
I choose the newspaper route, and when I get there I don’t make excuses. We exchange pleasantries about the crappy weather and get down to business.
No drama.
No rain.
Just water.
